Getting to St Ninians can be done by many different ways. This is a pilgrimage, even when you come for the first time. God promises to look after you during your coming in and going back. Read Psalm 121 before you arrive. Slowly.
You have to take the Calmac ferry from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay. There are regular buses and trains from Glasgow to Wemyss Bay. The terminal serves trains, buses and ferries. Check out Traveline Scotland. You can catch a taxi at the Rothesay ferry terminal. Ask the ferry terminal staff to direct you the 100yds to the taxi rank. Otherwise its a three mile walk down what are not very busy country roads but you'll probably need a map.
You can take the car on the ferry too if you wish to drive the whole way there. Booking is not necessary. There is a car park at St Ninian's Bay just beyond the houses of Straad. Remember to turn right at the first house as the car park and Point are over there.
Its a 1km walk over shells, the stony beach and lumpy ground, beyond the two buildings, to the Chapel on the highest point of the peninsula.
Bring a Bible, water and something eat. Bring also a rainproof jacket. You can stay overnight in a tent, but please respect the place and take any rubbish away with you. You might also want to take a shell or find one of the uniquely local stones with crosses in their structure.
Most of all, bring your concerns. Leave them. Take away some of the peace with you. God's store is infinite, so come back for more.
